About the show:

From heartache to healing, this production tells the story of faith, redemption, and hope. Through the lens of our director’s own story we journey through seasons of uncertainty, longing and hope to discover that in even our darkest nights God is near. This story invites us to lay down our fears, lift our eyes beyond our circumstances, and marvel at the faithfulness, power, and greatness of God. It is a reminder that every storm has a purpose, every struggle can shape us, and there is always hope on the other side.

In the empty space, the place that feels freshly wounded, where the pain won’t stop searing, God wants to meet us. He steps into the pain, into the void and fills it to the brim. His presence rises like the sap in a tree to heal and restore all the broken places. He is near to the broken hearted and He is a father to the fatherless, a defender to the widow. This piece is a deeply emotional part of the story where we find God stepping into the empty space left by our loss or the distance of the ones we love. Jenna’s contemporary ballet is beautifully fluid and powerful as she weaves story into movement.

Originally choreographed by Joanna Mizesko, this piece brings light and hope to those we love that are far away. Even though we cannot see one another we know that we both look up at the same sky each night full of stars that beckon us towards a time when we will be together again. Joanna’s choreography for this piece is fluid and romantic while exploring different levels in her own contemporary style. The piece is being set and enhanced by Hannah Kaemmer.

As a star dies its beauty and light are revealed in spectacular wonder, and its particles of iron, gold, and silver are scattered across the universe to be made into something new. Choreographed by our very own budding artist, Sara Doty, Reborn explores the reflective and inward process of being reborn similar to the nature of a supernova through modern movements and shapes this piece will move you both to watch and to perform.

Sara Doty

Sara Doty is an adult ballet dancer who started her dance journey at 29. She believes art is sacred and that human beings were meant to create and dance. Outside of dance, Sara is a writer with ten publications in small presses and magazines and is working toward traditional publishing.
