What to know for class

  • Arrival: Please arrive 10–15 minutes early. Students must remain with a parent/guardian until class begins, and late arrivals (15+ minutes) may be asked to observe. Dance shoes should not be worn outside the building. Parents may wait in the lobby; for dancers age 5 and under, a parent must remain onsite.
  • Stay hydrated: Dancers are encouraged to bring a water bottle into the studio (clear liquids only).
  • Plan: Please have dancers use the restroom before class to help minimize disruptions.
  • Stay present: We ask dancers to remain in class once it begins, stepping out only in case of an emergency.
  • Pointe Policy: Pointe shoes may only be worn in classes specifically designated as pointe classes.

FAQs

  • Do students need prior dance experience to enroll?

Nope! At NOVA we feel passionately about offering classes for every level of dancer, ranging from Beginner to Advanced-Intermediate.

  • What should my dancer expect for their first class?

We can't wait to welcome your dancer to NOVA! Here's what to expect for their first class:

Before you arrive: Please be sure a parent or guardian has signed our waiver online ahead of time to ensure check-in is smooth and seamless.

Arrival: We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early so your dancer can check-in, get settled, and feel comfortable before their class begins.

Check-in process: Please use the ipad at the front desk to mark your dancer's attendance.

What to bring: A water bottle (clear liquids only) and any dancewear or shoes required for class.

Before class starts: We encourage dancers to use the restroom and fill their water bottles before class begins! To support consistency and focus, we ask that dancers remain in class for the full session whenever possible.

If you have any questions before your dancer's first class, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!

  • What should my dancer wear to class?

Uniform and shoe requirements vary by class and level, please visit your Academy page for details. Our NOVA Boutique is always happy to help with fittings and essentials.

  • Is there an intro offer or trial class for new students?

Yes! New students are welcome to schedule a trial class to make sure the level and environment are the right fit. To get started, please submit a Trial Request Form and our team will reach out to help you schedule your visit.

Trial classes are $25 and due at the time of booking. If you choose to enroll, this fee may be applied toward tuition when enrollment is completed within 10 days of your trial. If the class feels like the right fit, we’ll guide you through the enrollment process.

  • What is your attendance policy for student classes?

Consistent attendance is essential to a dancer’s progress and safety. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes for their level, as attendance is considered for level advancement, rehearsals, and performance opportunities.

Dancers arriving more than five minutes late will be marked tardy. More than three absences per class per semester (including illness), or repeated tardiness, will require a conversation with the Director to determine next steps.

Continued absences may impact a dancer’s ability to participate in performances or exams.

All absences must be reported to the front office through the Momence app. Make-up classes are required for all absences and will be scheduled by our office. Injuries should be reported immediately, and medical clearance may be required before returning to class or performances.

  • How do I cancel or change my student’s enrollment?

Please email director@novadanceandwellness.com to request cancellation by the 15th of the month to avoid paying the next month's tuition. There is a $50 cancellation fee for students who drop mid-semester.
